Erectile dysfunction or impotence is one of the most embarrassing conditions in men. This condition affects a significant chunk of the male population, regardless of age . Although the geriatric male population has an increased risk of contracting impotence due to the changes in the male anatomy brought about by age, old age is not a guarantee of erectile dysfunction, and young age in men does not warrant less risk of impotence .
Presently, there had been a number of developments concerning erectile dysfunction in men, as patients are able to become more open regarding their condition, paving the way to greater advances in medicine concerning the treatment of impotence. While remains no permanent cure for erectile failure in men, nowadays there are a lot of treatment options for the temporary improvement of the condition. There are several treatment modalities available for impotence management, but the most commonly used therapy for impotence is oral therapy, which involves the Phosphodiesterase Type-5 (PDE5) inhibitor drugs such as Tadalafil, Sildenafil Citrate, and Vardenafil . Of all these 3 active pharmaceutical ingredients, the most preferred by patients are the Tadalafil products due to their lasting effect, which is more than double the length of the effect of Sildenafil and Vardenafil products (“Factors associated with preference for sildenafil citrate and tadalafil for treating erectile dysfunction in men naive to phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitor therapy: Post hoc analysis of data from a multicentre, randomized, open‐label, crossover study” by Eardley et al in 2007) .
Generic Tadalafil: Tadalista vs Tadacip
Cialis manufactured by Eli Lilly from the United States is the pioneer brand for the Tadalafil PDE5 treatment, but since the cost of the medicine is quite more than what the larger patient population can afford, patients look for less-costly alternatives for the medication. Because there was a need for cheaper medicines, pharmaceutical companies located in countries where the patent for Cialis has nearly expired applied for the approval of the manufacture of generic Tadalafil counterparts to sell to the market. Tadalista and Tadacip are only some examples of the generic brands available for Tadalafil in the pharmaceutical business.
Tadalista and Tadacip and other generic treatments are actually legal in the countries where they are manufactured since before they are classified as generics, they have to be approved by at least the local Food and drug administration for manufacture. These medicines only become illegal when shipped or distributed in the countries where the patent of Cialis has not yet invalidated. So far, there are countries which are now open to the dissemination of generic Tadalafil products like Europe, Canada, the United Kingdom, and more; the United States, though, has not yet sanctioned the dispensation of generic Cialis counterparts in its states, not until December 2017 .
Tadalista vs Tadacip Manufacturers
Tadalista is manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Fortune Healthcare, while Tadacip is made by the corporation Cipla. These manufacturer names are both situated in India and are both big players in the Indian pharmaceutical market.
Fortune Healthcare, Tadalista’s maker is one company inducted in 1986. It is one with 300 products in various medical concerns, but it is more recognized in the production of impotence treatments. Fortune’s known brands are Tadalista, Fildena, and Filagra. Its approvals include the ISO 9001:2000 certification, schedule M, and the WHO-GMP approval for its manufacturing facility .
Cipla, the creator of Tadacip, is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in India. It is not only known in the country, but it is also a multinational company with an extensive reach globally (has its presence in 100 countries). Cipla started its business in 1935 and now has 20,000+ employees under its care worldwide. 1,000+ products in 50+ dosage formulations are manufactured under the name of Cipla . The company’s accreditations are also highly impressive, as Cipla did not only gain the coveted US FDA approval; the company has various certifications for product quality from UK MHRA, TGA and APVMA Australia, Canada Department of Health, Geneva WHO, and many others .
Scientific Studies on Tadalafil
The study if Brock et al in 2002, “Efficacy and safety of tadalafil for the treatment of erectile dysfunction: results of integrated analyses” scrutinized the effectiveness of Tadalafil in 1,112 men with ages 22-28 and diagnosed with mild to severe erectile dysfunction with various origins . These participants were either given Tadalafil or placebo on an on-demand basis and on an empty stomach. Patients were randomized to 2.5 mg, 5 mg, or 20 mg Tadalafil doses or placebo . The study went on for 12 weeks, and the patients were evaluated using SEP/Sexual Encounter Profile questions 2 and 3, plus one Global Assessment Question. Based on the results, the action of Tadalafil in the patients are more significant and pronounced in all the assessment parameters as compared with placebo, but the patients which had more significant results were those administered with the 20 mg dose of Tadalafil . These patients given with 20 mg of Tadalafil had 81% of them had improvement in their erections, 75% of the patients were successful with their intercourse attempts, and they also had a score of 7.9 in the IIEF EF (International Index of Erectile Function erectile function). Overall, the study concluded that Tadalafil was effective and well-tolerated by the patients, although there were patients who complained of headaches and dyspepsia as adverse events .
As opposed to Sildenafil Citrate and Vardenafil, Tadalafil can either be taken as needed, or it can be taken on a daily basis. Mc Mahon, in his study in 2005, “Comparison of Efficacy, Safety, and Tolerability of On-Demand Tadalafil and Daily Dosed Tadalafil for the Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction” determined which of the on-demand and daily dose of Tadalafil is more effective in the management of erectile dysfunction . The author included 145 men diagnosed with mild to severe erectile dysfunction and randomized them to an on-demand 20 mg dose of Tadalafil or a daily dose of 10 mg Tadalafil (taken on an empty stomach and without alcohol), for 26 weeks . The results were determined depending on the patients’ answers to the evaluation tools (SEP/Sexual Encounter Profile questions 2 and 3, IIEF/ International Index of Erectile Function, and Global Assessment Question) . According to the results, the IIEF scores of the patients using both on-demand Tadalafil dose and the daily dose were significantly improved, although the score was higher for the patients taking the daily dose (8.3 for on-demand and 11.9 for daily) . The SEP 3 scores were also good for the drug administration types, 69% of the on-demand users and 84% of the daily users, but again, the successful intercourse rate is higher for the daily users than the on-demand users . All in all, both the daily and the as-needed doses for Tadalafil were well-tolerated by the patients, although improvements were greater for the daily Tadalafil dose .
Tadalafil is effective as a treatment for sterility due to its characteristic as a PDE5 (phosphodiesterase type-5) inhibitor drug. As a selective PDE5 inhibitor, it suppresses the action of the enzyme PDE5 in the corpus cavernosum, an enzyme which breaks down the cGMP/cyclic guanosine monophosphate, the second messenger of nitric oxide (NO) which is released by the nerves during sexual stimulation.
The inhibiting effect of Tadalafil causes the proliferation of the cGMP in the penis and the corpus cavernosum and potentiates the relaxation of the smooth muscle cells in the areas. This relaxation causes a vasodilatory effect which causes more blood flow in the corpus cavernousum, which encourages an erection in patients who are diagnosed with erectile dysfunction.
Tadalista vs Tadacip Use
Tadalalista and Tadacip are brands made by Fortune Healthcare and Cipla for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, and they are not just singular products, but brands involving several products under their names. Tadalista, for instance, has several product formulations aside from the typical hard pill type such as the soft gel capsules, sublingual pills, and chewable tablets. But, although the medicine formulations are different, the use of these products is relatively similar.
Tadalista and Tadacip are prescribed initially at 10 mg, and their doses are titrated depending on the patient tolerance for the medication . Should side effects surface, the patients are given a lower dose, but should the effect be insufficient, the patients are administered with higher doses of Tadalafil. The best way to take either Tadalista and Tadacip is without food and without alcohol, to increase the absorption of the drugs. 30 minutes to an hour intake before the intended sexual activity is ideal, as both Tadalista and Tadacip at least 30 minutes after consumption. Unless prescribed on a daily basis, patients should not take the on-demand versions of Tadalista and Tadacip on a daily basis; the effect of Tadalafil products like these two take as long as 48-36 hours, so the use of these products should be limited to one dose per 48-hour period.
As for the daily dose of Tadalafil, the preliminary dose is 2.5 mg, but depending on the patient reception for the drug, the dose may be increased by the physicians to 5 mg per day .
Tadalista vs Tadacip Side Effects
Like the other PDE5 inhibitors, Tadalafil products are reported to have some side effect, although the side effects are not inevitable in every use. Tadalista and Tadacip, since they contain the active pharmaceutical ingredient Tadalafil, are not spared from the side effect reports from the patient population. Commonly reported adverse events for Tadalafil products are headaches, back pain, facial flushing, dyspepsia, acid or sour stomach, belching, and stomach discomfort . These side effects are observed in a larger percentage of those taking Tadalafil products, although there are still patients who are asymptomatic when it comes to side effects.
Other more adverse but rare incidences for Tadalista or Tadacip use are edema, nose bleeding, loose stools, muscle cramps, nausea, nervousness, fainting, increased heart rate, cold sweats, confusion, tinnitus, changes in vision, changes in hearing, and more . Patients who experience any of these side effects should consult with their doctors for sound medical advice and for symptom management. Side effects should only be transient, so patients having the side effects even after Tadalafil was promptly metabolized by the body (after 36 hours) should be concerned and seek medical help immediately.
Here are the prices of both Tadalista and Tadacip in the same 20 mg dose:
Tadalista is cheap and sold at $0.56 per tablet, but its price can get as low as $0.27 per pill. 300 pills of the product cost a mere $82, which is almost the cost of just one Cialis pill sold by US drugstores.
Tadacip, on the other hand, is also inexpensive, although not as bargain-priced as Tadalista. Per pill of Cipla’s Tadalafil product costs $1.50, which is significantly less than the brand-name option.
Both drugs are highly affordable, although Tadalista’s price is unbelievably low. But, although the products can be bought in 120-300 pieces, the internationally allowable purchase of any prescription medication is only a 3 months’ supply, which prohibits patients from buying large-scale amounts of Tadalista or Tadacip.
Tadalafil products are highly suitable for the management of erectile dysfunction, and since the brand-name treatment for the condition is highly expensive, generic options are the ones sought by clients. Since brand-name and generic products all have the same active pharmaceutical ingredient, the effectiveness of the generic medications are also warranted, especially if they were manufactured by reputable brands.
Although they are competitors in the generic Tadalafil market, Tadalista vs Tadacip are good options for generic Tadalafil treatment choice. Price-wise, Tadalista is actually cheaper, but Tadacip has an economical price too. In terms of credibility, both companies making the drugs are well-accredited, although Cipla’s portfolio is more impressive. Fortune Healthcare, though is also one reputable company in India, but it fails to compete with Cipla’s numerous international certifications. Nonetheless, both Tadalista and Tadacip are great choices when it comes to erectile dysfunction treatment in males suffering from impotence.
